Sumptuous Surface - Collage Book with Jacqueline Sullivan

Jacqueline Sullivan Flyer

We will develop a rich surface as pages for our books with a series of exercises, using simple materials - mainly paint and gesso. We’ll build layers, starting with mark making and Asemic writing. We'll cover and uncover portions of those layers. We will omit and add text as we go, balancing visual activity and quiet, discovering from within what leads to the best integration of our ideas and feelings. Covering, uncovering, discovering! Our final project will be a sewn book made from one sheet of watercolor paper. The flaps and folds of this artist book provide many creative opportunities for cut-outs and collage. There are no limits to the imagination!
