A sampling of my calligraphy, hand lettering, and Celtic knotwork design.
  • Saint Patrick's Breastplate. Private Commission. Original design by Diane. (Custom hand-colored prints are available.) Watercolor, gold leaf, and ink. Calligraphy done in "Uncial".
  • Hand lettered poem incorporating handmade paper, birch bark, watercolor, and walnut ink. Private commission.
  • Dance "Family" Tree, commissioned as a gift to a retiring highland dance instructor. Watercolor and ink. Original design by Diane McDougall-Desautelle.
  • Custom name painting for baby's room. Acrylic on canvas. Private commission.
  • "Hail Mary". Personal work done in Bister ink, watercolor, and gold leaf.
  • Hand-painted lettering on jackets. Commissioned by the head of a private team for a trip to the Grand Canyon.
  • Wedding Reception Table Number Sand Dollars. Dip pen calligraphy done with a pointed nib and blue acrylic ink.
  • Mariner's song lyrics private commission.
  • Hand-bound wedding book. Wood cover, leather binding, gilded cypher, hand-distressed pages, and content calligraphed and illustrated with Celtic knotwork designs. Commissioned by the groom.
  • Commissioned by a serious gardener. Rocks hand lettered with permanent paint marker pen.
  • Family tree commission. Watercolor, gold ink, and Sumi ink.
  • Personal work. Trying out an "Elven script" with a quote from Lord of the Rings. (Words spoken by Galadriel) Original design rendered in Bister inks and gold leaf on cold press watercolor paper. 8"
  • Personal work to welcome a new little member to the McDougall clan! Letters gilded with 23K gold leaf on Instacol base. Illustration done in watercolor. 11.5" wide by 3.5" high.
