About Masscribes, inc.

Founded in September 1986 by Elissa Barr and Aimee Michaels, Masscribes was created to provide a welcoming and creatively open community for calligraphers and lettering artists. Over the past 40 years, the organization has grown into a vibrant center for education, collaboration, and artistic excellence.

Major milestones include hosting the International Calligraphy Conference twice: 2001: A Calligraphic Odyssey at Stonehill College, and Odyssey 2010: The 30th International Gathering of Lettering Artists. Masscribes has also offered three year-long study programs with master calligrapher Reggie Ezell in 1998, 2001, and 2017.

As Masscribes celebrates its 40th anniversary, it honors its rich history while continuing to support and inspire the next generation of lettering artists.
